Missing You

This card was made for a friend that had to move away. I have a feeling I'll duplicate this card because I really like the way it turned out. I didn't have some trouble with gluing the sun...I'll do that differently next time. :)

My Newest Hobby Made into a Card

There's a young woman I know who inspired me to start using coupons to save money so I made her a card to show her my appreciation.

Deals of the day!!!

I went to several second hand stores this week looking for things for Rogan to keep him entertained on the 48 hours we plan on driving this month (to and from AZ). I did find some nice cheap stuff for him and for me as well. :)

The two toys were $1.00 each and they still have batteries! I got the books for under $4.20! 8 books and 2 toys for $6.20!!! I thought this was a good deal. :)

The vase was $1.00 The picture does it no justice! I love it's simple structure. :)

 

I found these shoes and I saw that they were in perfect condition and only $4 but I was sure that they wouldn't fit me right, but I was excited that they fit my feel like a glove! When I got up there to pay for them they were on sale for only $3! Whahoo!!!

 

As I've already stated in my blog, my son is really into frogs. I found this hat for $1 and when I showed it to him he shoved it onto his head and laughed. He's such a silly little guy. :) Although he doesn't look happy in this next picture he sure does look cute in his new hat. (He wasn't upset about the hat, he was upset that he wasn't in my arms at that moment)

Thank You Card

This card didn't come together very quickly. I had some help from some other women who told me yes or no to my many ideas. :) After I thought to add some lace it all came together and turned out pretty cute. :)

Rogan's Glunk Glunk Blanket

I decided to make a blanket for my little guy that had his favorite animal on it. When I went to the store to buy fabric he held on to a bolt of fabric and hugged it and said "glunk glunk" over and over again, so it was decided! I was hoping this would be a quick project and it really was but it took me awhile to figure out how I was going to add a crocheted edge around it. The fabric it so fluffy that I couldn't see where to put my needle when I was doing the stitching around. It ended up looking really uneven, but I I was reminded that it's a "hand craft" and I'm not too much of a perfectionist, so I left it messy. Picking out the fabric and yarn took about 1 hour (we had to wait that long for my fabric to be cut), looking stuff up ideas on the net took about 1 hour, and actual work time took about 3 hours...so total time about 5 hours. Not too bad! I got everything on sale so it cost no more than $8.00. I plan on giving to it him on November 2nd for his 17month birthaversary. We celebrate each month on the second (because he was born on the second) just for the fun of it. :)

 

The Key to My Heart

This card was made for a friend of mine who got married last weekend. I wish I could have spent more time and thought on it but, being the procrastinator I am, I waited until the night before the wedding.

Dragonfly Card

This is my first card using my die cut machine. I didn't think I would use the dragonfly die, but I really enjoyed it. I love the way this card turned out and I hope that the recipient enjoyed it as well.

Prayer Cards

The first project that I did with my big shot was not a simple card, instead I tackled a full on project of making 72 prayer cards for the womens retreat. These cards were made so that we each could take one home with a name on it and pray for that person through out the year.

There were four different color schemes that I chose with the help of my husband. He's very good with colors so I took him along. :) He did a good job!
With Cina's help we cut and embossed the main piece of the cards.

I then cut a 2 inch strip of decorative paper and glued it to the page. I also cut a 1/4 inch strip of the same paper I used for the pansy to go underneath the 2 inch strip to add depth.
Then came the pansy! This shows what a  beautiful and intricate shape the die cutter can make. I had to do a little cutting with scissors, but it wasn't tedious.

The next thing to do was to cut out all of the little decorative labels. I used a die cut for these as well.   

Once they everything was cutout it was time to glue everything together with my new glue stick. (I would suggest that if you do a lot of card making or scrap-booking...or what ever that you invest in one of these)

Then last, but not least...a bow. :)

My New Sizzix Big Shot!

Christmas came early this year! I now have a die cutting machine! I'm so very excited about this! The first project that I'll be doing with my big shot will be "prayer cards" for the womens retreat. (when they're done, I'll be sure and put picture up!)
I think the thing I will most love about this machine is that it embosses! I love the look of things that are embossed. I can't wait to start making card to send to those I love! I went a little crazy on e-bay and bought about 20 different embossing and cutting dies! I can't wait till they get here! :)

Two Cards to Share

For my mother-in-law's birthday I made her a card. One of her favorite things is her grandson so I decided to make him the center of the card. It was a hit not only because it turned out cute but because it will always be a reminder of how tiny our little Rogan once was.

For Rogan's first birthday I wanted to hand make all the invitations. I had something simple in mind with a small amount of cutting and pasting. I made a big mistake though and brought my husband along for the trip to the store to pick out the supplies. He, being the genius that he is, came up with this elaborate design for the invitations. I toned his plans down a little and this is what I came up with...

 
It took a weekend and one sleepless night and I had 20 invitations! Although I had a ton of fun making these, I'll probably go with something a little simpler for next years party.

My Many Projects

I have always been a woman of many projects. I've never been one to finish one project before I move onto the next. I have made many things, but I don't think to take pictures and post it, but I hope that will change! I want to use this blog to show all of my projects and hopefully to encourage others to step out and try something new. I hope that this blog can be a place of creativity and I'm super excited to share all my projects with you!

Last Christmas was my son's first Christmas and I wanted it to be extra special for him so I made him the Pond Friends Ring Stackers. They were crocheted and actually a breeze to complete.
